12 Weeks To A Trilogy (or how to go insane in three months)

If you know me, you know I love a good writing challenge. I took part in Camp NaNoWriMo in July, cranked out 52k words and loved it. It wasn’t easy, of course, but the support and the accountability really works for me. It’s just something I like.

I was going to sign up for NaNoWriMo again in November (I might still do that) but recently another challenge caught my eye. I noticed it thanks to a fellow #turtlewriter, Hannah Lauren (@allthevoices90). She posted recently on Twitter about a challenge called 12 Weeks To A Trilogy and linked her blog post, “I Am Insane”.

I read her blog post with interest. Was she insane? I definitely hoped so. Did I want in on this insanity. Well, hell yes, of course I did.

So I contacted Hannah and got some more information. Now I’m part of a Facebook group of writers who are totally up for this challenge and are willing to support each other along the way when the going gets tough. And it will get tough.

It turns out that this insane challenge is the brain child of Chris Fox, author of 5,000 Words Per Hour, amongst many other books. He has produced a series of videos on Youtube and you can sign up on his website to receive his scrivener files to follow his progress and hopefully crank out your own trilogy using his example as a guide.

Chris seems to be one of those authors who is doing very well and wants to pay it forward to other writers. I love this kind of author and so I’m completely on board. I’ve already read his book 5,000 Words Per Hour and I’m probably going to read many of his others now as well.

So, wish me luck. I think I’m going to need it! I start officially tomorrow. I’ll update you about my progress along the way.
